We went to the Hampshire County Museum today to see some of the collection of 19th century dresses, corsets and bodices. It was an incredibly intresting and insightful day which has helped me understand the period much better as well as the way the cloths were put together. We were not allowed to touch the pieces however were shown all aspects of them and it surprised me that tecniques we still use today were being used then. We could ask any question we wanted and were in most cases given a compleate and facinating answer that will, I'm sure, help with cutting on the stand during this project.
